Chris has over 35 years of experience in operational management and leadership in both the public and private sectors. He currently serves as a Professor of Entrepreneurship & Innovation at the Poole College of Management at NC State University. Chris spent 16 years on active duty in the US Army, then joined Johnson & Johnson, the largest health care company in the world. Chris also served on non-profit boards and worked and lived overseas in several assignments in Asia and Europe.
Over 16 years with J&J Chris progressed through key positions in Strategic Planning, Business Development, Professional Education, Innovation and Global Marketing & Product Development. Chris led several multi-million transactions and led teams launching fifteen products that resulted in over $800MM in worldwide sales. Chris built an internal multi-state startup at J&J that collaborated with clinicians and led to breakthrough innovations.
Chris then transitioned to lead Sales & Marketing at two PE/VC-backed MedTech startups, and a microcap business in clinical diagnostics. Under Chris’s leadership those companies expanded in four new market segments and launched six new products in acute settings. Chris taught Entrepreneurship & Innovation as a Professor at the Kelley School of business at IU and Florida Gulf University.
Chris earned his B.S. in Engineering from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, and an M.A. in International Relations and Economics from the Nitze School of Advanced International Studies of the Johns Hopkins University in Washington, D.C.
