Mark Zorko is an international public/private company CFO and CIO for manufacturing, energy, health care and high-tech firms. His background includes over 25 years of Board-level experience. He is currently on the Board of Nu Skin Enterprises (NYSE:NUS) and the Chairman of Modern Mining Technology Corp. a private business. He previously chaired the Audit Committee for Westell Technologies, Inc. (OTC: WSTL). He chaired Nominations/Governance, Audit and Strategic Advisory and was on the Compensation Committees of Perma Pipe Int’l Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ: PPIH).
Mark has also been the interim CEO of Well Services Ltd., a Steel Excel business in the services industry and currently serves as an advisor to an early-stage entrepreneurial business.
As a seasoned CFO, Mark is focused on increasing shareholder value as a Financial Expert with cyber security credentials. He also has significant European and Asian experience and has been a CIO. Mark is a member of the National Association of Corporate Directors, serves on the Research Triangle Chapter Board and has completed its Director Certification, Board Leadership Fellow, and Cyber Security certifications. He is also a past President of the Financial Executives International Chicago Chapter, with 740 members.
After completing his MBA, Mark began his career as a CPA at Arthur Andersen, and worked his way up via the controllership ranks at Honeywell and Zenith Data Systems in the U.S. and Europe. Thirty years ago, he moved into the top financial leadership role as CFO for several manufacturing and high-tech companies. Mark has also been actively involved with leading lean manufacturing, strategic planning, risk management, ERP implementations and Asian sourcing initiatives.
Mark was the CFO of DGT Holdings Corp. (DGTC) from 2006 until 2012. He became the CFO for Steel Excel, Inc. (SXCL) in 2011, a company related to DGTC through 2013. Previously he was active with Tatum LLC, where he was the CFO for an energy firm, a private equity firm and the CAO for a Fortune 500 firm.
Civic and Personal
Mark is on the Board of Military Outreach USA and was on the Audit Committee for Opportunity International. He was previously on the Board of Directors and Operations Committee of St. Alexius Medical Center and the Finance Committee for the Alexian Brothers Health System.
Mark received his MBA in IT from the University of Minnesota and his BS in Accounting from The Ohio State University. Mark has also published governance and financial articles and teaches the Angel Capital Assn (ACA) governance training. He served in the United States Marine Corps and lived in Japan. He enjoys staying active with tennis, sailing and more recently, windsurfing. In his spare time, he’s practicing various sit-down comedy routines.
